United Soccer Association: A Must-Know Guide for 23-24 Season

As the new season of the United Soccer Association (USA) approaches, it is important for teams, players, and referees to be well-prepared and informed. In this guide, we will highlight key reminders and important information for the upcoming season. Let’s get started!

Scheduling and Field Logistics

When scheduling your USA games, please keep in mind that visiting teams should not be scheduled before 10 AM if they are traveling more than 50 miles. Additionally, try to schedule multiple games consecutively (every two hours) if possible. This allows referees who wish to work multiple matches enough time to finish the preceding match and start the next one. We appreciate your cooperation in optimizing game schedules for everyone involved.

Player and Referee Safety

With the extreme heat during the season, it is paramount that all players, coaches, and referees prioritize hydration and safety. Properly hydrating before, during, and after matches is crucial for everyone’s well-being. Please ensure that players do not leave the field during a hydration break. If you notice a player or referee in distress, please stop the game immediately and prioritize their well-being. The safety of all participants is our top concern.

Match Logistics and Responsibilities

Home teams are responsible for providing a Field Marshall and Assistant Referees (ARs). The USA Soccer Association will assign the Center Referees. Please note that for U9 and U10 matches, centers are assigned by the club.

The home team is also responsible for paying the referees. It is expected that both teams arrive at the field at least 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Additionally, the away team should bring two sets of jerseys in different colors in case a change is necessary.

Reporting Scores and Game Details

USA Soccer has implemented some changes in reporting game details. The use of the 3-part game report has been discontinued. Instead, each team will be required to have player passes and the Got Sport Game Card. This card will list the rostered players and will be signed by both coaches at the end of the game, with the score entered as well. Referees should report scores, but home team coaches will also have the option to report through Got Sport.

Important Dates and Procedures

It is crucial to note that all USA League games must be played by 2/25/2024. Once schedules are locked, any game changes must be requested through the Got Sport team account. Both parties must agree to the change before it will be approved. Email requests will not be accepted this year. Please be aware that there will be a $50 change fee for any game changes made within 2 weeks of the scheduled game date.

Other Important Information

If there are field closures due to weather conditions, it is the responsibility of the club to report them using a Field Closure Form. The 23-24 USA Rules, Regulations & Bylaws are available on the official USA Soccer website. We encourage all participants to review and familiarize themselves with these guidelines.

Finally, it is essential to inform the league of any player who receives or serves a Red Card within 48 hours of the game. Additionally, please report when the suspension has been served. Forms for this purpose are available on the USA Soccer website.
